Contrary to earlier reports that Valencia valued their star David Villa at €40 million, the Daily Mail reports that he could leave the club for as little as £17 million…

The Spanish international is being watched by Real Madrid, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, with Arsenal - a club he singled out for praise last month - also outside contenders for his signature.

Despite winning the Copa del Rey this season, Valencia are in complete disarray following their group stage elimination from the Champions League and near-relegation in La Liga and will have to sell at least one of their big name stars in order to stay afloat and indeed rebuild for the future.



Valencia Want ‚¬40m For Villa

Valencia have slapped a €40million price tag on the head of striker David Villa, but are content to listen to offers for the 26 year old.

It is generally assumed that at least one of Valencia’s ‘big name’ players will be sold off over the summer in order to ease their financial difficulties and it seems as if that player could be Villa.

They have not officially transfer-listed the striker, but Valencia are ready to listen to offers, although their €40million request may be a little unrealistic at this point in time.

Aragones Experiments With Torres And Villa

Luis Aragones used Spain’s last training session before the friendly against Peru in order to experiment as they prepare for Euro 2008.

Aragones has been using these training sessions to see which starting XI works best before heading off to Austria and Switzerland next week.

The tactician tested out a new 4-5-1 set up which can easily be adapted to a 4-3-3. The starting XI for the forty five minute game were Casillas, Sergio Ramos, Puyol, Marchena, Capdevila; Xabi Alonso, Xavi; Iniesta, Silva; Villa and Torres.
